The recommendation is to avoid driving into New York City on these days. With increased levels of pedestrians, tourists and events going on within city limits, these days are notorious for gridlock. Area transportation authorities recommend mass transit on these alert days during the holiday season. From Connecticut, MetroNorth is certainly an option, New Jersey and New York residents have additional options of bus or ferry service. While driving into NYC may seem convenient, the exorbitant cost of parking alone should be enough of a deterrent.
