Some Thoughts on Wedding Day Transportation Options

Couples planning their wedding often inquire as to available transportation options.  Below follow a list of common choices here in Connecticut and our experience with each.

Limousine Transportation:  By far, the most common form of wedding day transportation.  Available in white, black, silver and tuxedo color schemes, these vehicles can transport anywhere from one to a maximum of 10 passengers.  Most common in Connecticut are 6 and 8 passenger models.  Unfortunately, exotic SUV-styled vehicles (think Hummer limousine service) cannot be registered in state.  As such, larger bridal parties will need to rent multiple stretch sedan style limousines or consider a party bus.

Antique Cars:  Many couples look to include classic cars in their wedding day transportation options.  Availability is limited given the high cost of maintenance and vehicles should be reserved well in advance.  As air conditioning is typically not available, we recommend antique cars for spring and fall weddings when temperatures are a bit more bearable in formal wear.  Additionally, be prepared with a back-up plan on the off chance the car has mechanical issues.

Horse and Carriage:  For many brides, envisioning a Cinderella-like affair, a horse and carriage may be included in the day’s wish list.   As with antique cars, availability can be limited.  Weather may make this form of transportation a bit less than desirable so a back-up plan is advisable.  This form of wedding day transportation is typically best suited to events held in close proximity given the perils of battling traffic and speed.

Trolley:  Wedding trolleys seem to be a new popular option with couples planning their wedding day transportation services.  Time of year should dictate if an enclosed or open-air model is reserved.  Inventory is extremely limited and couples looking to utilize this service should plan to book well in advance to guarantee availability.

Party Buses:  Given Connecticut’s restrictive laws on limousine size, the party bus CT is a popular option with larger bridal parties looking to travel as a group. Available in a variety of sizes, couples will find amenities abound on these bus-sized limousines.  Inventory is limited and a party bus rental CT can be difficult to locate during peak season (wedding and prom season).

As such, reservations should be called in advance to secure the desired vehicle.

Convertible:  Couples occasionally like to handle their own wedding day transportation.  Renting a convertible can be a fun and cost-effective way to travel in style.

Wedding day transportation options are seemingly endless.  We are constantly amazed by the creativity of our customers and those planning their events.  The photograph options with these special vehicles can make for priceless memories.
